We got on a bus which took us to a boat moored on the edge of the Irrawaddy River.
We had seats but they were pretty laid back .
Getting on and off was interesting as we had to walk the plank. We had men holding each end of a big bamboo pole for a handrail.
The river was large and very muddy with a lot of life on its banks.
Loved the taxi waiting for passengers on the bank of the river.
We went walkabout followed by a large collection of hawkers. Pat has trouble choosing what colour longhi to buy.
Saw an interesting Pagoda. The whole outer covering was built to protect the inner Pagoda from the Japanese during the war.
Back on the boat and then off to the fish market. Pooh... won't be having fish for dinner.
Mandalay has an old palace surrounded by a moat. Sounds like the Royal family of the area had some interesting scandals.
We arrived at the site of the worlds biggest book just before sunset. It is a huge complex with the Buddhist scriptures inscribed on slabs with each page enclosed in a Pagoda.
Some of the Buddhas have the modern touch.
Dinner was at a beer station and restaurant. Not that great but for the equivalent of $3 for dinner and a beer who's complaining.
Then bed!!!!
